University Open Day - Sunday 21 August, 10am to 3pm

In 2006 the University of the Sunshine Coast will have more than 100 degree programs on offer thanks to the addition of more than 30 new programs.

The new programs are across the University's three faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business and Science, Health and Education.

Coastal Studies, Food Science and Nutrition, Psychology and Human Resources, Marketing and Communication, and Sport and Technology are just a few of the new degrees designed to meet industry demand for well-qualified graduates in the future.

Information on all the programs offered at USC will be on show on Sunday August 21 during the University's annual open day - Courses for Careers Day - which is coordinated by USC's External Relations Officer, Kylie McKenzie.

"The focus of Courses for Careers Day is to help people match USC courses with employment opportunities, so for anyone interested in returning to study or improving their current career options, this is a day not to be missed," Ms McKenzie said.

"A session designed especially for parents of school leavers will be held at 2pm in Lecture Theatre 5 with tips on how to make the successful transition from school to university study," she said.

A study expo will be held in the Innovation Centre with lecturers and students from all study areas available to talk to visitors about university life and coping with study, family and personal commitments. Administration staff will also be on hand to answer questions about how to apply and enrol at USC.

"QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre) applications for 2006 open on Monday August 22, so Courses for Careers Day is perfectly timed to ensure people have the right information to make an informed decision about which degree program to study," Ms McKenzie said.

Tours of the student accommodation facilities adjacent to the campus will be run on the day.
