USC - Noosa North Shore Resort MoU signing
25 November, 2005
Students and staff at the University of the Sunshine Coast will
have the opportunity to be part of the new Noosa North Shore thanks
to a Memorandum of Understanding with developer Petrac, to be
signed Monday, 28 November, at Tewantin.
The University and Petrac will sign the agreement, which will
generate learning opportunities for students from all three
faculties at USC, said Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Greg
Hill.
"The agreement will be of benefit to undergraduate and
postgraduate students as well as academic staff," Professor Hill
said.
"Students from Business, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science,
Health and Education will all have the opportunity to become
involved.
"From communications, public relations, and art and
design to eco-tourism, sustainability studies and
environmental monitoring, students will have the opportunity
to study in the environment of an 'outdoor' classroom.
"Projects include the development of an interpretive walk
explaining the environmental significance of the area and there
will also be research projects for postgraduate students," he
said.
Noosa North Shore Resort CEO John Grocock said, "This is a world
class development with significant community dividends and this
initiative is yet another example of our desire to engage the
broader community.
"This partnership will provide long term mutual benefits and
we're very excited about the potential for everyone involved in the
project," he said.
