saMY Program available at USC
25 July, 2005
The University is offering te
achers the saMY Program - Scaffolding action in the
middle years - over three Saturdays in August.
The Program is in response to increasing calls for greater
innovation and responsiveness to teaching in the middle phase of
schooling.
Dr Jennifer Nayler, Senior Lecturer in Education, said the
program aims to give teachers the skills to re-engage students with
learning during the important middle years of schooling.
"Students in the middle phase are a diverse group. We need to
develop teaching strategies, core learnings and assessment that
respond to this diversity," Dr Nayler said.
The saMY Program is an initiative that offers support for
schools that are just beginning their journeys of reform in middle
phase of schooling or who are advanced in their middle phase
reform.
"The saMY Program supports teachers and administrators to
develop curriculum that responds to the middle phase learners in
their own particular contexts."
Modules will be delivered by Dr Nayler who has extensive
experience working with schools on matters related to core
learnings, teaching strategies and assessment in the middle
phase.
The three modules cost A$495 (inclusive) and teachers can obtain
a registration form by emailing education@usc.edu.au or by
phoning 5459 4650.
