More than $14,000 worth of scholarships, bursaries and prizes were presented to University of the Sunshine Coast students today.

The fourteen awards went to first and second year students.

University Foundation Executive Officer, Andrew Pentland, said the awards are part of a much larger scholarship, prize and bursary pool that has been given to students this year.

"Thanks to community support, we have more than 60 awards available for both secondary school students entering USC and our current students," Mr Pentland said.

"The total value is in the vicinity of $90,000 and it is increasing each year.

"Most awards have eligibility criteria that covers study areas across all three University faculties," he said.

Scholarships, bursaries and prizes may be presented to students in a variety of disciplines including sporting excellence, business, environmental studies, involvement in the arts. These awards can be to support student's fees or for the purchase of textbooks based on academic achievement as well as financial need.

"There are a number of scholarships available to high school students who are considering entering USC next year," said Mr Pentland.
