Australia’s newest nursing facilities popular at USC's Courses for Careers Day
University of the Sunshine Coast’s new state-of-the-art nursing labs were open to the public for the first time at Courses for Careers Day on Sunday.
Prospective students toured the $12million Building H and viewed its advanced computer labs, wet labs, sports labs and nursing labs.
Courses for Careers Day showcased the University and its courses to prospective students, with academic staff on hand to talk about specific areas of study.
Around two thousand people visited the campus, to gather information about how to apply, university life, social activities, scholarships and student support services.
This year, a variety of seminars from the staff of the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business, and Science, Health and Education, focused specifically on career options for graduates.
“Graduate outcomes are very important – we have recently developed a range of new programs that are in demand in the community, offer high employment opportunities, and expand into new areas of study,” said Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Greg Hill.
“These courses complement and strengthen our existing degrees on offer, and create greater opportunities for people to study at USC.”
USC recently received an unprecedented allocation of new places by the Federal Government – an additional 235 first-year HECS places for 2007, including 130 places for nursing and mental health nursing, 30 places for early childhood education, 20 places for nutrition and dietetics, and more.
