Imago is emerging at USC Gallery

2 November 2006

Graduating Art and Design students at the University of the Sunshine Coast will present Imago, opening 6pm Thursday, November 9, at the University Gallery.

Imago will showcase the creative designs of 26 graduating students in celebration of their transition to industry professionals. The exhibition will feature a range of works by design students who have backgrounds in marketing, advertising, multimedia and communication.

"Imago is the scientific term for the fully-developed insect that emerges from the pupa at the end of the third stage of metamorphosis," Arts and Social Sciences senior lecturer Dr Ian White said.

"Our graduating students will emerge as the future leaders of design and the exhibition will provide a great opportunity for everyone to view the original, fresh and exciting ideas.

"Students graduating with computer-based art and design degrees move into many areas including advertising, graphic design, information visualisation, interpretive design, multimedia design and development, packaging, publishing and web design.

"We are thrilled with this talented group of individuals. Industry professionals, future students and the general community will find the exhibition inspiring."

Imago will run until Friday, November 24. The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery is open 10am to 4pm weekdays and 1-4pm on Saturdays. Admission to the exhibition is free and the public is welcome.

The 2006 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by Coastline BMW.
