Coast's senior nurses to inspect USC

5 December 2006

More than 50 senior nurses from the Sunshine Coast Health Service District (SCHSD) and other health providers are set to attend a Nursing Showcase event at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday 6 December from 2-4pm.

USC is staging the event to outline the exciting expansion of nursing education, research and consultancy at the University in 2007, including the introduction of a new Bachelor of Nursing Science degree.

The Nursing Showcase will include a guided tour of USC’s state-of-the-art nursing, sport and exercise, and biomedical laboratories and a discussion about further ways to strengthen the partnership between the University and SCHSD.

The forum, to be moderated by USC Chair of Nursing Professor Edward White, will explore opportunities to improve patient care through cooperative initiatives in education, research and consultancy.

"We will use the occasion to canvass the views from 50-60 senior nurses about the way they’d wish to see the relationship between the service sector and the University develop,’’ he said.

"Senior nurses are often better placed to know what the important issues are in health care provision."
