Ingenious works on display in BAD exhibition
An exhibition that features plenty of humour, clever design and creative genius will open at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery on Friday 19 October at 6pm.
The annual Brisbane Advertising and Design (BAD) Awards exhibition recognises excellence and innovation in the Queensland advertising and design industry.
BAD Club Committee president Amanda Dunne will officially open the exhibition which will remain on show at the USC Gallery until Saturday 27 October.
The BAD Awards were presented at a ceremony in Brisbane last month and this exhibition features the top entries in categories including photography, newspaper and magazine design, electronic media, packaging, corporate identification and student work.
BAD Club Committee member and USC lecturer in art and design Karen Carter said the exhibition always generated plenty of interest.
“Winners in the various categories need to surprise and engage the audience, or offer an unexpected solution, to set it apart from other advertising,” she said.
“They need to present fresh thinking and some, but only a few, are deemed able to compete with the best national work.”
Ms Carter said the University enjoyed hosting the exhibition because it could show the “best of the best” to USC’s marketing, advertising and design students.
“Although we use the exhibition for teaching, it appeals to a wider audience,” she said. “It has lots of humour, clever design and the creative genius of leading industry professionals.”
Admission to the exhibition is free and the public is welcome. The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and closed Sundays and public holidays. The 2007 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by Sajen Legal.
