Graduating design students at the University of the Sunshine Coast will present DRUM: the rhythm of creative minds, opening at 6pm Thursday 1 November at the University Gallery.

DRUM will showcase the design and multi-media work of 30 graduating students in celebration of their transition to industry professionals.

Lecturer in Digital Design Toni Coles said the exhibition would feature a range of works by design students who have backgrounds in advertising, design, multimedia, marketing and communications.

Artwork from the DRUM exhibition“Our graduating students represent the future leaders of design and the exhibition will provide a great opportunity for visitors to see examples of the creative work that forms the basis of their industry portfolios,” she said.

“Students graduating from this program move into many areas including web and print design, information graphics, interpretive and multimedia design, packaging, publishing and advertising.”

Industry professionals Hugh and Jodi Edwards of Creative Plantation will judge the portfolios and the Proost/De Deyne prize of $500 for best portfolio will be awarded on the opening night.

USC Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich said this exhibition would have wide appeal.
