High school students to receive Headstart scholarships

9 October 2007

Fourteen students from 11 Sunshine Coast high schools will tomorrow night (Wednesday 10 October) receive scholarships that will help provide a head start towards their university education.

The $375 scholarships will be presented at a special University of the Sunshine Coast celebration of its innovative Headstart program at the USC Chancellery building (Building C) from 6-7.30pm.

The media is welcome to attend the celebration which will feature the presentation of 12 Kirk Foundation scholarships and two USC Indigenous scholarships.

The event will acknowledge the support of Headstart scholarship donor, David Kirk and the Kirk Foundation, and congratulate the student recipients.

The Headstart program is designed to create a seamless transition from school to university allowing Year 11 and 12 students to complete accredited undergraduate university courses while still at school.

More than 130 students from 27 high schools throughout the region have participated in Headstart in 2007.
