Australian String Quartet to return to USC
The internationally-acclaimed Australian String Quartet will perform at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday 5 August at 7pm.
This special Sunshine Coast performance is part of the quartet’s 2008 Australian Concert Series and will feature selections from Haydn, Miriam Hyde and Beethoven.
This quartet of Sophie Rowell (violin), Rachel Johnston (cello), Sally Boud (viola) and Anne Horton (violin) is the only Australian group to have been participants in the prestigious chamber music class of the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne.
It also holds the distinction of having won more international chamber music competitions than any other ensemble in Australian history.
The annual concert, now in its seventh year at USC, is a prestigious calendar event for music lovers on the Sunshine Coast.
Tickets are $30 and include the concert and refreshments. They can be purchased through the University Foundation office on (07) 5430 1104.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards the USC Building Excellence Campaign’s efforts for the University’s new Health and Sport Centre.
