Seminar to focus on Coast's identity and lifestyle

7 May 2008

The University of the Sunshine Coast will hold an urban planning seminar tonight (Wednesday 7 May) that will have special significance for residents and leaders of the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

The seminar – Growing Places to protect Local Identity and Lifestyle – will be presented by award-winning “place-based enterprise” consultant Robert Prestipino of Vital Places.

Mr Prestipino is a member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. He specialises in developing projects that help recognise the intrinsic character and concerns of communities.

The public is welcome to attend the seminar, which will begin with a light supper at 6pm in the USC Brasserie before Mr Prestipino’s presentation in Lecture Theatre 3 from 7-8pm.

The seminar is the first of a series of seminars planned for 2008 by the University’s Bachelor of Regional and Urban Planning program coordinators.

Admission will cost $15 (or $5 for students). For more information, contact Joeline Callaghan via email at JCallagh@usc.edu.au or by phone on 07 5459 4856.
