The University of the Sunshine Coast is a five-star performer, according to the 2008 Good Universities Guide.

The Guide has awarded top marks (five stars) for USC’s staff qualifications, teaching quality, and graduates’ satisfaction with the general skills they gained while at the University.

USC also scored impressive results (four stars) for graduate employment, overall satisfaction, gender balance, Indigenous participation and for access by equity groups.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas AM said USC was continuing to build its reputation in areas that were commended by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) earlier this year.

“The Guide has yet again reflected how so many graduates appreciate the special support provided by USC staff,” he said. “This support is exceptionally important in degree programs.”

The Good Universities Guide also lists USC among the most affordable universities in Australia for study of Humanities and Social Sciences programs.

The annual Guide, produced by Hobsons, bases its ratings on data from the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training and the results of the national Graduate Destination Surveys.

Hobsons Data Services Manager Richard Evered congratulated USC on rating in the top 20 percent nationally for graduates’ satisfaction in the way they have been taught.

“USC has been given great marks by its graduates in this year’s edition of The Good Universities Guide for all three student experience ratings,” he said.

“It has impressive results for employment and those who seek admission to higher education on the basis of equity, will be welcomed by very well-qualified staff who are great teachers.”

To see what makes the University of the Sunshine Coast so good, visit its annual open day – Courses for Careers Day – this Sunday (19 August).

This open day event is an ideal opportunity to find out about the programs and courses offered at the University, go on a campus tours and chat with current students about their experiences.
