Indonesian journalists visit USC campus
The University of the Sunshine Coast captured international media attention this week when journalists from three major Indonesian publications toured the campus.
Seno Joko Suyono of Tempo magazine, Elin Kristanti of Jawa Pos newspaper and Ficky Yusrini of Femina magazine visited USC on Tuesday 29 April as part of a two-day tour of South-East Queensland.
The trio were gathering information for articles they are writing about the region’s education and tourism opportunities for Indonesians.
They visited Tangalooma on Moreton Island, went surfing off the Gold Coast and inspected tourist attractions and education facilities from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast.
They spent four hours at USC, inspecting the University’s facilities, speaking with staff and Indonesian students, and making a presentation to journalism and Indonesian language students about the media in their country.
Seno Joko Suyono, whose magazine has a circulation of more than 100,000 and is Indonesia’s equivalent of Time magazine, said the USC campus was very attractive.
“I love the architecture of the buildings,” he said. “There is such a variety. None are the same and they have amazing shapes.
“I was amazed by the art gallery. No university I have seen has its own art gallery. None of the universities in Indonesia have their own art galleries. USC students are very lucky.”
The other journalists also remarked on the beauty of the USC campus and were impressed by its facilities.
