Michelle Joubert
Consultant, Corporate Tax, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Brisbane
Bachelor of Business (Accounting) graduate
Michelle Joubert was among a group of top Australian accounting graduates to make it through the rigorous selection process at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The global accounting company has more than 5000 staff in Australia and over 150,000 employees world-wide.
"PricewaterhouseCoopers has such an excellent reputation and is such a large firm with offices world-wide, and I was attracted to the experiences and growth potential it offered me," says Michelle.
She now works in their Brisbane offices in Corporate Tax. "Tax is a very challenging area in which to work," says Michelle. "The laws are continually being updated and changed, and there is a constant need to improve your knowledge and skills in order to serve your clients to the best of your ability."
Michelle says she benefited from the 'cutting-edge knowledge' provided at University of the Sunshine Coast.
"What you learn is not outdated by the time you graduate," says Michelle. "Also the smaller tutorial groups means that you have a lot more personal contact with lecturers and tutors, particularly in areas of difficulty in various courses."
Michelle plans to complete her Chartered Accountant qualification to increase her skills as a taxation professional.
"It is important to choose a career that is going to guarantee you a job in future, as well as opportunities to improve yourself and move into other areas of interest," says Michelle. "A business degree, and in particular, an accounting degree, forms the basis of a very wide choice of careers."
