Adam Powell
Bachelor of Social Science
National Indigenous Cadetship Program
With a major in sociology and minors in politics and environmental planning, Adam Powell is well on his way to a career in government, just as he planned.
Adam says he chose to study at USC because of the support the University offers its students, and the flexibility students have to choose courses that are most useful to them.
Adam says his success in securing a National Indigenous Cadetship Program (NICP) cadetship with the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs means he receives financial assistance to help finalise his Bachelor of Social Science studies at USC.
"I would encourage everyone to apply for a National Indigenous Cadetship-I wish I could have got one sooner, as it is a great financial support system while studying at University," Adam says.
"Under the cadetship I am paid A$300 per week, together with a A$500 book and incidental allowance, which is paid each semester. I will also have the opportunity to apply for a graduate position within the Department when I have completed my studies."
