First-year Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise) student and
elite gymnastics coach Briony Fleming has chosen a USC degree that
will help her reach her personal and professional goals.
As a full-time gymnastics coach for the last eight years,
including in the national level stream for the Victorian Institute
of Gymnastics, Briony enrolled at USC to learn more about the human
body.
"I chose my degree because I was interested in gaining an
in-depth understanding of how and why the body responds to such
things as exercise, nutrition, recovery techniques and mental
behaviours," Briony says.
"When I graduate I hope to specialise in an area of sports
coaching at an elite level or look into prevention or
rehabilitation."
Briony says the student support at USC made adjusting to
University life easy.
"The environment is wonderful and the help given is extensive in
comparison to that at a metropolitan university," she says.
"The opportunity to study overseas is something that is also of
great interest to me and something that I will endeavour to look
into over the course of my first year."
