Catherine Royall
Bachelor of Science (Public Health) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) graduate
A USC degree equipped Catherine Royall with all the skills she needed to kick-start her career in Health Promotion working for Queensland Health.
The Bachelor of Science (Public Health) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) graduate says she uses the skills she learned during her USC studies every day in her role as a Project Officer for BreastScreen Queensland.
She recommends the University to anyone who wants an edge in their tertiary education.
“USC provides a much more personal learning environment—you’re not just another student number,” Catherine says.
“All of my lecturers knew my name and my capabilities, and I thrived because of it."
“I always draw on Health Promotion theory with large projects, and I found the research design and statistics courses I undertook at university invaluable when I was given a project that involved designing a survey and analysing the data I obtained.”
Catherine’s role sees her perform a wide range of duties, from conducting and analysing staff surveys to developing strategies for radiographer workforce recruitment and retention issues, and providing ongoing support to service staff.
