Gemma Dittmar
Financial assistance pays off for Gemma
Fourth year student Gemma Dittmar is completing a dual degree in Business and Arts, majoring in Design and Marketing.
Gemma was awarded the Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society Sunshine Coast (ADFAS) Scholarship, which includes an internship with the USC Art Gallery.
“The ADFAS Scholarship has helped me to learn the inner workings of an art gallery, and being in a creative environment has also inspired my own creative work,” Gemma says.
Gemma is also the recipient of a Commonwealth Learning Scholarship and an Australian Federation of University Women Qld Inc Sunshine Coast Branch Bursary.
“Financially, these scholarships have helped because it has meant that I can spend more time on my academic studies,” she says.
Gemma encourages other students to apply for the scholarships and bursaries on offer.
“It is a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge, especially with a scholarship which offers you the ability to work in the field you are studying,” she says.
“Also, it gives you some financial security while you are at uni so you can focus on your studies and be able to produce top results.”
Gemma found that USC staff were extremely helpful with the application process.
“The Scholarships Officer answered any questions I had with the application process and helped me out as much as possible to ensure that I had a competitive application form,” she says.
Gemma loves studying on the Sunshine Coast and recommends USC to all potential students.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I really like the atmosphere on campus, the staff are friendly and approachable and you get a lot of one-on-one time with your tutors and lecturers.”
