Felicity Cunningham
Headstart program student
Felicity Cunningham is closer to reaching her career goals after completing two USC courses through the Headstart program.
Felicity, who is a Year 12 student at Suncoast Christian College, chose to study the courses ‘Introduction to Information, Communication and Technology’ and ‘Analysis and Project Management’ over two semesters at USC.
“I am interested in the IT industry, and these courses were in that field,” Felicity says.
“The courses are also part of the degree program I want to do when I attend university, so I knew that they would count for something after I finished.”
When she finishes school, Felicity hopes to enrol in a Bachelor of Software Engineering or a Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology.
She says the Headstart program allowed her to study the courses that interested her most, and to choose times that would fit in with her school timetable.
She describes her Headstart experience as “very enjoyable”.
“I have had a great time—I always feel welcome and the atmosphere at USC is very warm. I have also gained knowledge, not only about the subject matter of my courses but also about study and assignments in general," Felicity says.
“I have had the same lecturer and tutorial leader for both my courses. She has been so helpful and never minds answering all my questions.”
Felicity recommends the Headstart program to other high school students.
“USC has such great people, the campus is awesome and the courses are really informative and interesting. Everyone wants to help you accomplish your goals," she says.
