Bachelor of Journalism graduate

Grant Reynolds says USC’s practical approach to journalism study helped him obtain employment as a newspaper reporter—even before he graduated from his degree.

Grant, who studied a Bachelor of Journalism at USC, says the practical education he received helped him gain employment with regional newspaper Noosa News, where he covers general news, sport and features.

“We were challenged to think and act like journalists from the moment we started the (Bachelor of Journalism) program,” Grant says.

“The (University teaching) staff endowed us with a sense of pride in our work and a passion for what we do.

“The transition from university to work was seamless.”

During his study, Grant also had the opportunity to complete work experience with ABC Coast FM and an internship with the Sunshine Coast Daily, a sister newspaper to the Noosa News.

He firmly believes that his hands-on experience in media organisations helped to ensure his success in a competitive industry.

“USC is second to none for a journalism education,” Grant says.
