Jacqui Thurecht’s tourism studies received a boost when she travelled to South Carolina as part of the GO Program.
Jacqui says the College of Charleston’s location in a popular tourist destination was well-matched to her Bachelor of Tourism degree.
“As a tourism student, it is important that I can interact with people from different countries and also have a vast global view,” Jacqui says.
“I hope that my experiences overseas, not just on holiday, but living and learning, will increase my job prospects.”
Jacqui says she enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and “experience the southern hospitality”. She also participated in college sports, alongside her academic classes.
“During my time at the C of C (College of Charleston) I joined the girl’s rugby team and made a lot of friends,” she says.
Jacqui recommends the GO Program to other USC students.
“The people you meet and the friends that you make are a big reason, but also the once-in-a-lifetime experiences that you have will remain as treasured memories for many years,” she says.
“I have already booked a flight back to America on Boxing Day so I can spend New Years with my friends.”
