Nate Wiltshire
GO Program participant
When Nate Wiltshire studied at the University of Tennessee (UT) through the GO Program, he not only increased his knowledge in sport and exercise science, but gained valuable experience working with some of the USA’s top athletes.
Nate, who is studying a Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise Science) at USC, accepted a position in the Men’s Strength and Conditioning Department at UT, working with the men’s basketball, football, and track and field teams, as well as the cheerleading team.
“The athletes and coaches were very approachable and helpful so I was able to learn a lot from them,” Nate says.
“Some of the most notable athletes that I had the opportunity to work with included Jangy Addy (Olympic decathlete in Beijing), Rubin Williams (sixth fastest 200m sprinter in the USA), Tyler Smith (NBA prospect in 2009), and Jerod Mayo, Brad Cottam and Erik Ainge (all drafted to the NFL).”
The GO Program also gave Nate the opportunity to travel. He visited 19 states during study breaks, including New Year celebrations in New York with fellow USC students, and ‘Spring Break’ at Panama City Beach, Florida.
Nate says the GO Program was one of the reasons he chose to study at USC. He now hopes to one day return to the USA to study a postgraduate program.
“I'd love to study Physical Therapy or Exercise Physiology at postgraduate level anywhere in the USA,” he says.
