Phuttiphan Voragul
Home country: Thailand
Program: General English/Pre-Intermediate
Phuttiphan Voragul has found that opportunities to learn and practise English at USC have not been limited to the classroom. His experiences living with a Homestay family and working at a local Thai restaurant have also expanded his learning opportunities.
“USC found a Homestay family for me and it is a good family,” Phuttiphan says.
“My Homestay family helps me to improve—they help me to correct my English.”
Phuttiphan says his part-time work has also helped develop his English language skills.
“Working as a waiter in the restaurant helps with English a lot,” he says.
“When I speak with customers I have to concentrate, think about what they say and write the meal order down—I think I’m really lucky!”
Phuttiphan chose USC for the good weather, beachside location and culture. With the help of USC staff and his Homestay family, he has made the most of his time here.
“I appreciate the information International Relations Student Services gives me,” Phuttiphan says.
“They help me to plan trips everywhere. I attended the Mooloolaba barbecue party and that was good and enjoyable.
“Food in Thailand is a bit more exciting, but I love barbecue food and my Homestay mother is a great cook.”
Having experienced life on the Sunshine Coast, Phuttiphan is now making plans to undertake further studies at USC.
“I would like to do IELTS and then and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting),” he says.
