Louise Pilgaard Petersen
Home country: Denmark
Program: Study Abroad
Study Abroad student Louise Pilgaard Petersen says her overseas
study experiences will be an advantage when it comes time to find
employment in her home country.
"It is a huge advantage in Denmark if you have been to another
country to study," Louise says.
"It shows that you are independent and not afraid to go
somewhere far away alone. It also gives you greater communication
skills in English."
Louise says that while she was among the first group of students
from her school in Denmark to come to USC, she felt confident her
decision to study on the Sunshine Coast was a good one.
"I did not have anyone to ask about how it was to study at USC,
but after reading the publications sent out from the University I
began to feel much more secure and excited," she says.
"I had nothing to worry about-I felt welcome from the first
day."
Louise says the best thing about USC is the assistance provided
by University staff.
"The thing that is great about USC is that you can get help with
everything everywhere," she says.
"I was sick at an exam and International Relations (staff)
helped me to see a doctor and to arrange a special exam. There was
no problem at all and I could just relax and get better."
Louise chose to live at Varsity Apartments while studying, and
has enjoyed the recreational activities available.
"I was in the Varsity Apartments volleyball tournament last
semester," Louise says.
"It was a great break in the middle of the week to get out and
have fun with my volleyball team."
