GO Program participant

Rhiannon Denver made the decision to study at USC based on its course offerings and location. But when she learned she could also study overseas through the GO Program, she couldn’t ignore the opportunity.

After seeking advice, reading brochures and exploring the options, Rhiannon decided to study at Baldwin Wallace College in the USA.

Rhiannon says USC staff made preparing for her trip easy.

“They were very helpful in every step,” she says. “There was little I was unprepared for due to their advice and support.”

Rhiannon particularly enjoyed the cultural experience she had overseas. She says there are many things that you can be told about a culture, but not understand until you are submersed in it.

“My favourite memories include going to Niagara Falls, living with lots of people, making new friends, comparing the differences in education systems, class discussions, Thanksgiving, the sports in America … and many more experiences,” she says.

Rhiannon believes the GO Program will enhance her future studies and career, and that the experience has made her realise that “anything is possible”.

“It gave me a much more global experience and also made me grateful for my learning at USC,” she says.

Rhiannon encourages other students to participate in the GO Program.

“It helped me to learn things about myself,” she says.

“It challenges a person and is a learning experience, which is the whole point of being at university. It enables learning to progress to a further level.”
