Tanya King
Bachelor of Science (Honours) student
Queensland Academy of Sport scholarship recipient
USC student, Tanya King, received one of only two research
scholarships offered for the first time last year by the Queensland
Academy of Sport (QAS).
Tanya will now have the opportunity to conduct applied sport
science research into sports nutrition whilst working with some of
the most experienced professionals in their field.
"Having the ability to interact with some of the most elite
national and international athletes provided a further incentive
for me to apply for the project," Tanya says.
"The major objective of my research will be to improve the
competitive performance of elite QAS athletes and teams."
Tanya advises anyone interested in studying for an honours
degree to consider what they want to achieve from their study.
"The independence, responsibility, and advanced skills and
knowledge you will gain during your honours year will help pave the
way to pursue your career in the health or sporting industry," she
says.
Why would Tanya recommend a postgraduate degree at the
University of the Sunshine Coast?
"The expanding networks and partnerships the University is
developing with key industries will only go toward further
enhancing your understanding of yourself and the subject area you
are interested in," says Tanya.
"Furthermore, the University's friendly environment, facilities,
and the teaching and supervising staff are always approachable and
ready to give advice where it is needed."
