Scholarship has financial and career benefits
First year Bachelor of Business (Accounting) student Arlo Goozee says his Poole and Partners scholarship has not only provided financial assistance, but valuable career contacts as well.
Arlo, who also supports his studies by working as a Trainee Accountant/Bookkeeper at Accounting and Business Solutions in Buderim, says he found the scholarship information on the USC website and decided to apply.
Initially, Arlo sought the financial benefits, but soon found that “the scholarship provided networking opportunities, which also came with a few job offers”.
The Poole and Partners scholarship has helped Arlo to pay his HECS fees up-front, and he strongly encourages other students to apply. He also recommends gaining practical workplace experience.
“It has helped me in my studies and vice versa, as work provides a real-life context to apply the things I learn,” Arlo says.
“Work also helps me to study as I get a ‘conceptual’ view of how things fit together.”
