After completing an undergraduate degree at Delhi University, Ashu chose postgraduate study at USC for the quality, low cost and diversity of education in Australia.
“Australia’s education system is very good and low cost, and Australia is a multicultural country. I thought it would be a good experience to study in a multicultural environment,” she says.
“Indeed it is a good experience studying at USC on the Sunshine Coast. It is a beautiful regional area and I am enjoying my time here.”
Ashu is impressed with the resources, facilities and support at USC.
“I like USC because it has a good study environment. We have a huge library with flexible opening hours including weekends,” she says.
“We have 24-hour access to computer labs for study, and the campus has good security.
“There is help available for international students in matters related to study including workshops to improve academic skills and assistance with adjusting to a new culture.”
Academic resources and teaching style at USC are quite different to those Ashu had experienced at home in India.
“Students can access lecture notes, study materials and University mail online anytime at USC. The study methods involve research and give students a good knowledge and better understanding of the subjects,” Ashu says.
“I have made Australian friends through classroom discussions and I am more aware of the Australian culture.”
The choice of postgraduate study in the Master of Professional Accounting was a career decision for Ashu.
“I have worked in India for seven years as a secretary with top management. To reach a higher position in the workplace I decided to acquire postgraduate studies,” she says.
“Postgraduate studies help in better decision making and improving managerial skills. I would like to open my own business and knowledge of accounting will help me manage my company accounts.”
