Julie Burton
Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts student
Julie Burton has always harboured a secret desire to become a teacher.
In 2004, when her children were old enough, she started study, and when USC introduced its Education Programs in 2005, Julie was quick to apply.
She was ecstatic when she received UCS’s offer to study a combined Education and Arts degree.
"I felt like I'd won Tatts Lotto, I was so excited when I found out," she says.
She advises others in the same situation to give it a go.
"I'd always believed uni wasn't for me, but USC staff have helped me challenge myself and achieve a dream."
"The Education team is supportive and helpful and really makes an effort to get to know the students," she says.
"The hardest part for many mature age people is just to take that first step and apply. It's a whole new world at university and it's fantastic!
"In four years time I will be four years older, but now I can be four years older with a degree," says Julie.
Julie is planning on graduating with a major in Modern History and a minor in English.
