USC graduate Lorin Willson has made a splash as the Marketing Coordinator at UnderWater World.
The Diploma of Events Management/Bachelor of Business (Tourism) graduate gained the position after undertaking a practicum placement at the tourist attraction as part of her studies.
Lorin says her degree equipped her with the skills necessary to hit the ground running after graduation, and she now assists with promotional campaigns, website development and media analysis, among other duties.
“My degree provided an understanding of the industry and assisted in developing, enhancing and refining my skills ready for the workforce,” Lorin says.
Lorin says she chose to study at USC because it was close to home, and because studying a dual degree program allowed her to gain two qualifications in just three years.
“I have always had an interest in tourism as I have lived on the Sunshine Coast my whole life and I understand the significance of the industry to the local economy,” Lorin says.
“This degree had the potential for me to stay on the Coast once I had completed my studies.
“I would recommend the University to prospective students because the environment USC fosters is relaxed and comfortable. The lecturers and tutors that I had were excellent and extremely experienced within their fields.”
