Home country: USA

Samantha Solomon chose Study Abroad at USC because she wanted a truly Australian experience.

“USC was much smaller than the other school I was looking at in Australia, and had less international students, so I knew I would be able to meet more locals and learn more about the culture,” Samantha says.

She is enjoying the hands on nature of her favourite course, Campaign Planning.

“I have greatly enjoyed Campaign Planning because of its practicality. Using real clients in real life situations has given me valuable knowledge that can be used directly in the work force.”

She is also finding the academic workshops valuable.

“I went to the seminar on how to cite references for papers at USC and I learned all the little differences between the US system and the Australian system,” she says. “I feel very prepared now for my assessments.”

Samantha is very comfortable with the open and natural USC campus.

“I really like layout of the campus and how all the buildings are so open. The way nature melds with the buildings makes you feel like you are always outside. It really improves my mood.”

Samantha spends her leisure time exploring the Sunshine Coast area with friends.

“I really love going to see new local spots. I have made some friends and they are always taking me to see little towns in the hinterland or to a new beach on the coast.”

If you are from a small school like Samantha, she believes USC is the place for you.

“I would recommend other students to study here, especially if they are from a small school like me,” she says.

“USC is a small bite of Australia that is easy to handle. You travel so far and for so long that you expect to get off the plane and be someplace totally foreign, but you find everything is very familiar.”
