Shota Nogawa
Home country: Japan
Shota Nogawa chose the USC Direct Entry English Program (DEEP) as a pathway to undergraduate study in the USC Bachelor of Arts.
The co-operative partnership between his home university, International Buddhist University, and USC has enabled him to develop his English language skills and gain an international qualification to complement his qualification from Japan.
During his time here, Shota has enjoyed the diverse nature of the USC community.
“My favourite experience is seeing people from many different countries, and living with a local family is a great experience,” says Shota.
The USC support staff have also been helpful to Shota. “USC International staff have helped with enrolling, visas, English and activities,” he says.
Shota feels he will leave USC with the necessary English language skills to assist him when he returns to Japan.
“At this stage I am here for a year and a half, so hopefully I will leave with good English,” he says.
Shota says that opportunities for further study and USC life in general make USC a great choice for other students from Japan.
“I recommend USC, the staff are very helpful, the environment is good, and the people are friendly. I am interested in the possibility of a Masters degree in the future,” he says.
