Support helps Terri tackle tertiary study

Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts student Terri Waller attended Indigenous Orientation Week activities to help her make a successful transition to tertiary study.

“Orientation helped me become familiar with the University and other Indigenous students,” Terri says.

Now in her third year of study, Terri says the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS) also provided valuable academic support.

“It has helped me to acquire the vocabulary, get academic skills and academic support, and offered a learning experience that suits my learning style,” she says.

Terri highly recommends USC to other Indigenous students.

“The Indigenous support staff are great and the facilities are all here,” she says.

Terri receives a Commonwealth Learning Scholarship to help cover the costs of study, and Terri says the range of resources available on campus also help her to meet the demands of a tertiary education.

“The study room is an area where you feel very comfortable and the student library makes required textbooks available,” Terri says.

“The laptops give the opportunity to experience information technology, and the convenience and time-saving benefits that come with it.”
