Waqas Tarar had a passion for Australia and on a recommendation from his brother, he chose to study at USC.
"It was my dream to study in Australia and my brother recommended me to select USC due to its educational ratings and exotic location," he says.
He is impressed with the University facilities and helpful staff.
“I am highly impressed by the helping and caring staff of the University. The people in the international relations office are really co-operative and help me a lot,” Waqas says.
“Secondly, the modern setup of the University, especially the library and lecture rooms, are awesome.”
Waqas is enjoying the Sunshine Coast lifestyle.
“I am living in student accommodation at Varsity apartments, it is a good place for a student to live because all apartments are well furnished and I was able to find it on the Uni’s website,” he says.
“I spend my free time playing sports like volley ball, table tennis and swimming. So far Coolum Beach is my favourite tourist place and on some weekends I go to nightclubs with friends.”
Waqas’ experience at USC is culturally and academically very different to home.
“The education system in Australia is different and modern in comparison with my previous education system. There are differences in the way of assessments, audio video lectures and especially SOLAR system (on-line student records),” he says.
“The culture here is totally different and polyphonic to that we have in Pakistan. The way of living, communication, weather and customs are all very different.”
Waqas definitely recommends USC.
"I definitely recommend USC to my Pakistani fellows and to every student thinking to study in Australia due to its conducive and healthy environment for studies and its supreme location.”
