Free psychology clinic to open at USC
A free psychology clinic will be a key feature of the University of the Sunshine Coast’s new Health and Sport Centre when it opens next month.
This clinic will offer treatment and assessment for a wide range of mental health problems and disorders experienced by adults, adolescents and children.
USC Professor of Psychology Mary Katsikitis said the clinic would provide an important teaching and research function for University staff and students and deliver a welcome boost for the region’s mental health services.
“We hope the clinic will help improve waiting times for individuals who need psychological services in the Sunshine Coast area,” she said.
Professor Katsikitis said the clinic would be staffed by clinical psychologists who will be supervising psychology interns in their fifth or sixth years of study.
The clinic will accept referrals from a wide range of health care professionals and organisations, and also will welcome appointments from those without referrals.
Appointment times will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. For appointments or more information, phone (07) 5459 4514 or email <psychology@usc.edu.au>.
