USC to host Science, Engineering and Technology Expo

Hundreds of school students will take part in exciting, hands-on science activities like robotics and forensics this week at the inaugural Sunshine Coast Science, Engineering and Technology Expo.

The expo for Year 5 students tomorrow (Tuesday 3 June) and for Year 9 students on Thursday (5 June) will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

The expo has been organised by USC, Education Queensland, the Science Centre of Innovation and Professional Practice (SCIPP), the Queensland Government Office for Women, Engineers Australia and Girls in ICT.

Australian Geographic and CSIRO also are supporting the event which will be held in the University’s state-of-the-art science laboratories.

The Year 5 program tomorrow will include sessions called Robotics, Bodyworks, Bright Sparks and Cool Chemistry, while the sessions for Year 9s are called Gene Technology, Eco-enigma, Focus on Forensics and Robotics.

The Year 9 program also will include careers talks and an engineering challenge posed by Engineers Australia (Queensland Division) at 2.30pm Thursday.
