6 June 2008

An exhibition that explores technology and society in a variety of exciting and innovative ways will be on display at the University of the Sunshine Coast from Thursday 12 June to Saturday 7 July.

“inSIGHT: an exhibition of digital illustration by advanced design students” will be officially opened by Moreton Bay Regional Council Arts and Cultural Planner Richard Baberowski.

USC Computer-Based Art and Design lecturer Debbie Livingston said the design students had produced some great work this year and more than 50 pieces would be on show in this exhibition.

“The large format designs are printed on either paper or canvas and are on a par with today’s professional industry standards,” she said.

“Student exhibitions are always well received as it has educational relevance, not only for university students, but also for high school students considering a career in design.

“The exhibition also will have broader appeal for the community and visitors to the exhibition will see what is at the forefront of graphic design in Queensland.”

The University of the Sunshine Coast offers a Bachelor of Design which prepares students for a variety of careers, including advertising, graphic design, multimedia design, packaging, publishing, visual communication and web design.

The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery, located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, is open to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.

The 2008 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by major sponsor Coastline BMW and inSIGHT is sponsored by Coastline’s Driven by MINI Garage.
