Early Learning Education students at the University of the Sunshine Coast today (Friday 21 September) had their maths assignments rigorously assessed by some of the toughest markers around . . . children aged 4-8.

Twenty USC students were delighted when the youngsters from preschool to Year 3 at Siena Catholic Primary School tested their major projects and gave them the nod of approval.

USC Course coordinator and lecturer Lisa Uusimaki said the Siena children thoroughly enjoyed the educational tools that included instruction kits for teachers and exciting activities for young children.

“Some of the projects were just awesome,” Ms Uusimaki said. “I didn’t expect such a high standard.

“This was the major assessment for this subject and the teaching students really put in a lot of effort.”

Ms Uusimaki said she planned to display the maths teaching resources at the University, so that teachers from other Sunshine Coast schools could inspect them.
