How can we manage Coast’s growth?
An innovative forum at Mooloolaba today will consider new ways to deal with growth and development on the Sunshine Coast.
The Sunshine Coast Regional Forum is co-sponsored by major consultancy firm Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the University of the Sunshine Coast.
The keynote speakers will be Mayor Bob Abbot, the State Government Deputy Director-General of Planning Gary White and Brian McMahon, Principal of Place Making and Planning at PB.
USC Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mike Hefferan said that while the region faced challenges ranging from population and infrastructure demands to affordability and climate change, there were innovative ways to protect and enhance its liveability.
“There are many examples of how the region can develop and grow in ways that work for the whole community, but it’s now a matter of applying those in a local context,” Professor Hefferan said.
“Events that bring together local and state leaders with experts from the professions provide a great opportunity to progress the agenda for the Coast.” The forum is invitation-only.
