Berbagi
Thursday 2 February–Saturday 3 March
Berbagi (which means ‘sharing’ in Bahasa Indonesia) is a collaborative exhibition with members of the Queensland Papermakers Inc—both those based in Queensland and guest members from Bali.
Curated by artist Di Tait, the exhibition presents 2D and 3D artworks that were inspired by visits to Greenman and Aliran Studios, Bali in 2010.
Artists from Queensland and Bali shared knowledge of paper-making and developed life-life long friendships.
Supported by the Queensland Government, Arts Queensland Development and Presentation Grant.
Chris Pantano: 25 Years of Glass-Making

A twenty-five year retrospective by this nationally and internationally recognised Sunshine Coast glass artist, Chris Pantano.
Chris’ art glass is held by most major galleries in Australia and he has also built a global reputation.
With strong colour, craftsmanship and design, his works express a connection to the Australian landscape that has influenced his life-long studies of philosophy, anthropology and spirituality.
Through the looking Glass: A mother’s journey to understand the inner world of her autistic son.

Gladstone artist Melanie Jai’s whimsical paintings inspire understanding, compassion and acceptance for those affected by mental health issues.
Melanie’s highly stylised portraiture helps her reach the fairytale land of villains and heroes that her son so often retreats to.
The textural works engage viewers with words of honesty and wisdom to shine light on the strong emotions, chaos and confusion associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

STUDIO: Australian Painters Photographed

This exhibition presents the award-winning photographer, R Ian Lloyd’s large format portraits of sixty-one of Australia’s most acclaimed painters in their studio environment, be it an inner city loft, suburban kitchen or sandy earth of the outback.
Each image contains extraordinary and revealing detail about the artist and their work.
Curated by nationally acclaimed arts writer and critic John McDonald, the exhibition opened in 2007 at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and has toured across Australia since then.

Mid-year Design Student Exhibition: Collective Perspectives
Thursday 7 June–Saturday 7 July
One of the most popular degrees at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Computer-Based Art and Design) prepares students for a variety of careers including graphic design, advertising, publishing, web design or multimedia design and development.
In this exhibition, advanced-level students present large format prints on paper, canvas or vinyl that demonstrates the innovation and creativity practised in their course.
Concentrating on digital illustration, students are encouraged to experiment with photography, painting and drawing skills combined with computer software to produce a dynamic body of art work.
The Proost De Deyne Family supports the purchase of artworks selected from this exhibition for the University of the Sunshine Coast Collection.
