Grant Kenny (1995) Surf Lifesaving

Grant Kenny

The king of ironman racing, Grant Kenny followed in his famous father’s footsteps, dominating a golden era for surf sport.

In 1980 Kenny, at the age of 16 and still at Maroochydore High School, became the first athlete to ever win a national junior and senior ironman title on the same day. He dominated the senior title for the next 3 years.

Kenny was also a bronze medallist in the K2 1000 metre kayak event at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
