Connect – Innovate – Ignite!
The 16th International ACTS Conference will be hosted by the University of the Sunshine Coast from the 2–4 November 2016. The theme “Connect – Innovate – Ignite! Collaborating to spark sustainable solutions for a smart future” will challenge participants with the question – How do we work together to drive the sustainability agenda as the solution to building a smart future?
In 2015 we ‘refocused and renewed’ now its time to take the next steps. Over the last 12 months, there have been significant steps forward in the transformation towards sustainability. The commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and COP21 by every single nation around the world makes a bold statement. It is now time to connect our thought leaders, policy makers and business world and ignite the spark to innovate new and improved ways forward. It is our time, as educational institutions to work closely to change unsustainable practices and meet the requirements of the future. If any sector can make this happen, it is tertiary education.
Learn from others face to face. Share your own knowledge. Leverage off the expertise and experience of those in the education sector with access to campus practices – all in one place, at one time.
The 16th International ACTS conference will provide learning and networking opportunities for professionals and students working in all areas of sustainability across campus and surrounding communities. Coming together from across Australia, New Zealand and the world, delegates will share new ideas and successes, whilst advancing knowledge of current and emerging themes.
The event attracts participants that are actively engaged in sustainable initiatives within areas covering curriculum, environmental management, facilities, finance, social responsibility and community engagement, such as:
- Tertiary educators (professors, heads of schools, academics)
- Facility decision makers
- Environmental managers and practitioners
- State and Federal Government representatives
- Sustainability professionals
- Students and student leaders
- Vendors and consultants
- Other related professionals and professional organisations
