In regional communities in particular, making a contribution matters. Whether it comes in the form of donating, volunteering, or providing special care to family and friends, this support makes a vital contribution to the fabric of a regional society. It is this personal connection to community which makes regional living so unique and special.
Three years ago when the University of the Sunshine Coast embarked upon the Building Excellence Campaign, it quickly became clear that the Sunshine Coast community—as well as friends beyond—were willing to demonstrate their support through generous philanthropic donations and sponsorships. Near the Campaign’s completion, the ambitious target of $5 million was successfully reached.
This amount, while modest in comparison with income to well-established, city based universities, represents one of the largest amounts of private funds ever raised by a Sunshine Coast organisation. But more importantly, the dollars donated will make a significant impact here, directly benefitting USC students and the greater community through scholarships, new facilities, campus beautification and the many programs that reach outward.
I am extremely proud to have chaired USC’s first major campaign, and pleased for the privilege to be so integrally involved with this dynamic University and the region it serves.
On behalf of the USC Foundation Board, I sincerely thank the campaign donors who are leading the community through their example. The future is brighter because of their generosity.
