Our primary STEM outreach programs are designed to introduce our youngest students to the challenge and discovery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. They get the opportunity to work with USC Science academics and students, both at school and here on campus. The programs are fun, engaging and bound to inspire students to continue their STEM journey into secondary school and beyond.
We currently facilitate the following initiatives:
- STEM Student Leaders - delivering classroom-based sessions that include experiences and demonstrations that complement school curriculum and build aspirations towards further education in STEM. This is available for Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions
- James Nash SHS Middle School STEAM Excellence Program - a six week after-school STEM and Arts enrichment and extension program for Year 5 and Year 6 students in Gympie
- Robotics and Coding Workshop - enhancing students' coding skills and knowledge through the EV3 robots for Year 6 students in Gympie
- Science and Engineering Discovery Day - an introduction to Science and Engineering for Year 6 students in Gympie
