Brendon Kassman

High school attended: Casuarina Senior College, Darwin, Northern Territory

Degree: Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Diploma of Languages

Target graduation date: 2018

My journey: Since graduating in 2007, I have explored a vast array of paths both academically and professionally. While there are a number of paths not travelled the full extent such as an electrical apprenticeship, a double degree in the Arts and Education and even a successful application into the Northern Territory Police Force.

The path that I have found the most success in however, revolved around my health and making choices that would be most beneficial for my future. Since 2012, I have lost 70kgs of weight, completed a Certificate IV in Fitness and later worked as a Personal Trainer, assisting others in realising their health and fitness goals. I have also completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage here on the Sunshine Coast and am now enrolled in a concurrent Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Diploma of Languages, which I hope to complete and  later go on to study Medicine.

Career aspirations: My lifelong aspiration is to enjoy a career in Medicine.

Why did you become an Ambassador? The University of the Sunshine Coast has reignited my passion to study and realise my academic aspirations. As a great believer of giving back and paying-it-forward, being a Student Ambassador allows an avenue to meet with people from all walks-of-life, while raising awareness of all the exciting programs and myriad of amazing opportunities that USC has to offer.

What do you like about USC? Having experienced different teaching and training institutions, the University of the Sunshine Coast has exceeded all expectations. The genuine care and attention received from all my lecturers, tutors and support staff has truly enhanced my learning experience. The relaxed lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast melds harmoniously with the fresh, new and modern facilities. And the diverse array of students from lands near and far add a special element to the melting pot of life that makes USC so unique.
