Entry Requirements - OPs and Selection Ranks

To make sure our students are ready for university study our programs have entry requirements. Students graduating from Year 12 can apply to university via the QTAC using their Overall Position (OP) or Selection Rank.

An OP is a student’s rank order position from 1 to 25 based on the results of the student’s best five Authority subjects. Students who do not complete the required number of Authority subjects in high school to gain an OP can apply to QTAC for a Selection Rank.

Additional entry pathways

If a student doesn't meet the entry requirements or would like to improve their academic skills before enrolling in a degree, we offer a Tertiary Preparation Pathway to help them access university study.

The Early Offer Guarantee enables Year 12 students to be offered a place at university on the basis of their Principal's recommendation. Also, if a student successfully completes two courses under the Headstart or Integrated Learning Pathway programs they will be eligible for entry to most USC programs.
