Ergonomics at work

Many of you spend at least part of your work day at a workstation or computer. Therefore it is important that it is set up correctly. Ergonomics is about fitting the workstation to the worker. The aim of ergonomics is to reduce the risk of stress, pain and injury.

Setting up your workstation

The following resources can be used as a guide in setting up your workstation:

Reduce long periods of sitting

Prolonged sitting at a desk or computer can cause muscle tension and pain, and is a risk for a range of diseases. We encourage you to take regular short breaks to reduce sitting time.

We offer initiatives to reduce sitting:

Trial ergonomic equipment

We allow staff to trial ergonomic equipment (keyboard, mouse or mouse pad). The ergonomic loan scheme gives you an opportunity to try the equipment before you decide to buy.

To take part in the program, complete the ergonomic self-assessment and the ergonomic equipment loan request form. Email documents to Health Safety and Wellbeing.
