Kylie Readman is the Director of the Centre for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Kylie is a 2011 national Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation winner in acknowledgement of her innovative partnerships to improve assessment practice. She is also the recipient of the 2010 USC Vice Chancellor’s Medal for Learning and Teaching.
Kylie’s research interests include innovations in assessment to enhance student learning, the role of leadership in curriculum and assessment design and the uses of technology for learning, particularly in relation to assessment.
Kylie has designed and taught courses in pedagogy, assessment and curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for a number of years.
She is committed to development of learning and teaching practices that enhance student engagement with learning. Her most recent publication is a text book for preservice teachers, Practical Planning and Assessment co-authored with Dr Bill Allen and published by OUP Australia.
In C-SALT, Kylie and her team are responsible for supporting and advancing learning and teaching in line with the University’s strategic priorities.
Three broad areas that fall within C-SALT’s remit are grants and awards, academic development and blended learning as well as the management of specific priorities: graduate attributes, learning spaces and academic leadership.
Kylie is leading an OLT Extension Grant, Professional Learning Conversations for Academic Leadership and is a team member in a second grant project led by QUT, Advancing academic professionalisation: National Benchmarking of Graduate Certificates for Higher Education.
She is currently an executive member of the Council of Australian Directors of Academic Development and the Queensland branch of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia.
