The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) is responsible for the overall vision and effectiveness of initiatives that enable students to realise their fullest academic and personal potential.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) Professor Karen Nelson, provides leadership and fosters excellence across the portfolios of Student Services and Engagement, Student Wellbeing and the Academic Secretariat and chairs the University’s Learning and Teaching Committee.

By working with and representing the interests of a diverse student body, the Pro Vice-Chancellor ensures a mutually reinforcing relationship between the academic and non-academic areas of the University and plays a central role in defining the strong sense of community that unites students and staff across various cultural, educational and professional backgrounds.

As a member of the Executive team, the Pro Vice-Chancellor makes significant contributions to the development of the University. In particular, she is responsible for initiating and leading the University's student success strategies and for advancing and supporting higher education research, learning and teaching scholarship, and evidence-based excellence in learning and teaching practice.

The Executive Assistant to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students), Anne Callanan, provides executive support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students).
